Lauren Coodley link
is a professor of California
history at Napa Valley College
and a Sinclair scholar. In 2004,
her first two books were published.
"Napa: the Transformation
of an American Town" is
based on archival photographs
and original interviews conducted
by Professor Coodley and her
students, and is published by
Arcadia Publishing. "The
Land of Orange Groves and Jails:
Upton Sinclair's California",
which she edited, is based on
her decade of research into
Sinclair's life in California
and is being published as part
of the "California Legacy"
series by Santa Clara University
and Heyday Books. The title
of her book, The Land of Orange
Groves and Jails", is a
phrase borrowed by Sinclair
from the Wobblies during the
days of their arrests under
California's criminal syndicalism
laws.
