  • Geographic labels– American Colonies, England, Africa, West Indies (tents) and cities –Boston, Charleston, Bristol, Coastal ports (taped to cones)

    Simulation: Observation Form

SET-UP

In auditorium or other large space. Place geographic labels around the room in appropriate locations. Students with posters and ship captain take places in original locations.

LESSON

1. Simulation:

  • Review "Triangle of Trade" from previous lesson
  • Read paragraph (3rd read)
    Act out 1st triangle (Students involved stand up, all others remain seated. Student moves with commodity poster.)
    Act out 2nd triangle

2. Discussion:

  • Observers comments
  • Questions:
    Who was responsible for the slave trade?
    Who profited? Who lost?
    Why did people let this go on?
    Review vocabulary.

3. Write: (SEE ASSESSMENT)
